AIM: To determine “Y” parameters of a given two port
passive network.

Y – Parameters:
Y-parameters
are also known as admittance or short circuit parameters. If we chooseV1
and V2 as independent variables and I1 and I2 as
dependent variables then the network can be characterized by the given equation
I1
= Y11 V1 + Y12 V2
I2 = Y21 V1 + Y22
V2
PROCEDURE:
Y – Parameters:
- Connect the circuit as shown in fig.4.c connect the variable voltage at port 1. Short-circuit the port 2. By varying the V1, note down the I1, I2 and tabulate
- Connect the variable voltage at port 2, short circuit the port 1 as shown in fig.4.d
- By varying the V2, note down the I1, I2 and tabulate
PREACAUTIONS:
1. Connect the
circuit elements as per the circuit diagram
2. Avoid loose
connections of the circuit elements
3. Take the
readings carefully and accurately
4. Do not tamper
the circuit elements.
